The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 188 calls between September 27 and October 3, 2024. Below are some highlights of calls attended:
At approximately 3:00 am, September 28, police received a report of a woman who had crashed her vehicle into a telephone pole and a parked vehicle. Upon arrival, the woman was located near the car and admitted to having been the driver and only occupant of the car. The officer suspected that the woman was impaired by alcohol. EHS was contacted and the woman was taken to the hospital where she was medically cleared. An impaired investigation continued and the woman provided two breath samples into an approved screening device which both registered as a fail. The woman was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, the vehicle was towed and she was given a 90-day notice of driving prohibition and notice of vehicle impoundment. Violation tickets were also issued for driving contrary to driver’s licence. (2024-8550)
On September 30, approximately 1:00 am, while conducting routine patrols, police located a man on the 2900 block of Sparks Street who was known to be on conditions of a probation order which included a nightly curfew. The man was arrested for breaching that condition and held for court. The man’s probation order stemmed from an original offence related to property crime. A new charge was approved for breaching his probation and the man was released with new conditions of a release order. (2024-8609)
At approximately 3:30 am, September 30, police received a report of a man sneaking around a property in the area of Spring Creek Drive. Police attended the property however the man was not located. Nothing was reported to be missing from the property. Police want to remind the public to be diligent in keeping doors, outbuildings, and vehicles locked and valuables out of sight. Many thefts can be easily prevented by proactively securing valuables. (2024-8611)
On the afternoon of October 3, RCMP received a report of a logging truck that had gone off the road on Highway 37 south, and had crashed into a natural gas down pipe causing an active gas leak. RCMP attended the scene and assisted with traffic control while additional partner agencies worked to make the scene safe again. The driver of the logging truck was transported to hospital and treated for minor injuries. (2024-8705)
