Surrey RCMP is on scene at a motor vehicle collision that occurred on April 28, 2024, on Highway 99 in Surrey.
On April 28, 2024, at approximately 4:16 am, Surrey RCMP received a call of a two-vehicle collision on in the south-east bound lanes of Highway 99, 50 meters east of the Highway 91 junction. A late model Ford Sedan was travelling into oncoming traffic, the wrong way, in the south-east bound lanes of Highway 99. The Ford struck a Mercedes sedan who was travelling south-east bound, on Highway 99. The resulting collision caused significant damage to both vehicles.
The 68-year-old female driver of the Ford was transported to a local area hospital with possibly life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the Mercedes have been transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.
Alcohol and a pre-existing medical condition are believed to be contributing factors to the collision. The incident is still under investigation.
The south-east lanes of Highway 99 are closed at the Highway 91 junction, and are expected to remain closed for several hours. Police ask that motorists find an alternate route.
