Wildfire in Lillooet

On July 9, 2024 at 10:22pm a report was received of a wildfire in Lillooet along the west side of the Fraser River up the hill side just north of the train bridge in Lillooet. 

Lillooet Fire Department, BC Wildfires, Lillooet RCMP, Stl'atl'imx Tribal Police attended. Fire crews were able to contain and put out the fire working through the night. 

The cause was learned to be accidental after speaking to a man located in the area with consultation with Lillooet Fire Department. 

Lillooet RCMP are reminding the public to be extremely cautious and aware of potential fire hazards given the current dry conditions in summer.
