Maple Ridge. B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP is reminding the public to be mindful of changing weather and visibility conditions after attending three motor vehicle incidents involving pedestrians or cyclists in the last week.
On October 25, 2024, at approximately 8:14 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP received and responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle incident involving a pedestrian in the 22100 block of Lougheed Highway. Police attended the scene along with BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) and the Maple Ridge Fire Department (MRFD) and observed one person had been struck by a vehicle and had sustained life-threatening injuries.
Despite live saving efforts, the 49-year-old female from Pitt Meadows succumbed to her injuries and died on scene. Integrated Reconstruction Analysis Reconstruction Team (ICARS) also attended the scene and roads were closed for several hours after the incident.
On October 30, 2024, at approximately 6:03 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP received and responded to a call to assist from BC EHS at a motor vehicle incident involving a pedestrian in the 13600 block of 232 Street. Police, BC EHS and MRFD attended the scene and observed on person had been struck by a truck.
One person was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. ICARS also attended the scene and roads were closed for several hours after the incident.
On October 30, 2024, at approximately 6:23 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP received and responded to a call to assist from BC HES at a motor vehicle incident involving a cyclist in the 22100 block of Lougheed Highway. Police, BC EHS attended the scene and observed a collision between a vehicle and bicycle.
One person had sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospital by BC EHS for precautionary reasons.
