Just after midnight on June 22, 2025, a West Shore RCMP Frontline officer was patrolling the area near Jacklin Rd and Rex Rd in Langford when the officer observed a Grey 2002 Chevy Malibu with inactive insurance and displaying a licence plate that had been reported as stolen.
The officer attempted a traffic stop with the vehicle however the driver did not stop. Shortly thereafter, police set up a blockade in attempts to stop the suspect vehicle near the 2600 block of Sooke Rd. The suspect vehicle collided with a police car at this location.
Police arrested the driver who is identified as 36-year-old Michael Bruce. Michael Bruce was held in custody and has been charged with the following:
Michael Bruce was remanded into custody and has an upcoming court date in July.
Fortunately, no one sustained any injuries as a result of this incident, particularly as the incident unfolded during the late-night hours, said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.
