Smithers RCMP File 2024-4855

December 15, 2024

The Smithers RCMP is asking the public and local businesses for assistance following a stolen vehicle incident that occurred on Saturday night.

On December 14, 2024, police received a report that a grey Hyundai Tucson had been stolen. The vehicle allegedly drove erratically down Main Street prior to police successfully locating and arresting the suspect.

By coordinating their efforts, our officers were able to arrest the suspect and recover the vehicle," said Constable Jocelyn Foidart, Smithers RCMP. "Every day, I see our dedicated team working to keep our community safe," added Cst. Foidart.

To assist with the ongoing investigation, we are asking businesses along Main Street to review their security camera footage from 8:30p.m. to 10:00p.m. for any evidence of the grey Hyundai Tucson. Additionally, anyone who was in the area and witnessed the vehicle driving erratically is asked to contact the Smithers RCMP Detachment.

The investigation is ongoing and additional details may be released pending charge approval.
