On Friday, April 12, 2024, at 12:40 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol when he detained a 45-year-old Krestova man driving a vehicle on St. Paul Street, in Rossland, BC. The officer observed that the vehicle’s taillight was defective before stopping the vehicle.
The officer conducted a short investigation and discovered that the man was prohibited from driving under Section 95 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.
The officer arrested and released the 45-year-old Krestova man on an Appearance Notice for June 20, 2024, where he will make his first appearance on this matter in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC. The vehicle was impounded for up to 7 days.
Trail RCMP will forward a report to Crown Counsel recommending one count of Drive while Prohibited contrary to Section 95 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.
On Friday, April 12, 2024, at 4:23 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol when she detained a 61-year-old Trail man and his vehicle on Pine Avenue, in Trail, BC.
The officer has issued a notice to repair defects on the vehicle and to the man in the prior two weeks. The man was rude and belligerent about the reason for the stop, and to the officer. The man produced the issued inspection notice for the vehicle which stated FAILED.

The officer issued the 61-year-old Trail man a $598 fine for Fail to Comply with Order contrary to Section 25.30(4) of the BC Motor Vehicle Act Regulations. His vehicle was impounded.
On Friday, April 12, 2024, at 9:47 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report about a motor vehicle incident that occurred on Highway 22 A, near Rossland, BC.
A 19-year-old Fruitvale man and a 20-year-old Trail man were in the vehicle when it rolled over and into the ditch. The officer believed that speed and impairment were believed to be factors in the cause of the crash. Neither person was wearing a seat belt. The 19-year-old Fruitvale man was transported to hospital by EHS for a medical assessment. The 20-year-old Trail man was believed to be uninjured.
The incident remains under investigation.
On Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 15:00 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol when he detained a 31-year-old Trail man and a 33-year-old Trail woman in a vehicle roadside on Highway 3B, in Trail, BC.
The officer conducted a computer query on the licence plate and noted that the registered owner possessed BC Driver’s Learners Class 7 licence. The officer noted that no L sticker was visible on the vehicle. The officer discovered that the man was driving the vehicle and prohibited from driving under Section 95 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.

The officer arrested 31-year-old Trail and released him on an Appearance Notice where he will make an appearance on this matter in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC. The vehicle was impounded for up to 7 days.
On Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 3:45 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP was conducting a routine patrol when she arrested a 41-year-old Trail woman for breaching her conditions not to be within 100 metres of a business located in downtown Trail, BC.
The officer took the woman into custody at the Trail Detachment. The woman was brought before a judge and was remanded into custody. She is awaiting a bail hearing before a judge.
The woman is accused of one count of Fail to Comply with a Release Order contrary to Section 145(5) of the Criminal Code, and other alleged breaches.
On April 16, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol when he observed a 31-year-old Trail man riding a bicycle, without a helmet or reflectors, into oncoming traffic on Pine Avenue, in Trail, BC. The office then saw the man ride through a red light at an intersection, and decided to detain him roadside.
The officer activated his emergency lights and sirens; however, the man did not stop for the officer. The man rode onto a sidewalk and attempted to pedal away from the officer but crashed his bike. The officer exited his vehicle and approached the man while identifying himself. The man, disoriented from the crash, attempted to get onto his bicycle and ride away. The officer prevented the man from leaving after arrested the man for Obstructing a Police Officer contrary to Section 129 of the Criminal Code. A struggle ensued, and a second officer joined, and they managed to take the man into custody without further incident.
The officers discovered that the 31-year-old Trail man has an outstanding Warrant of Arrest. Officers also located a small amount of a substance believed to be drugs during the incident.
The man remains in police custody at the Trail Detachment and is awaiting a bail hearing before a judge.
