Kamloops RCMP officers are investigating after a Canadian Pacific (CP) Police Service officer was injured while arresting a man this weekend.
On Saturday July 1, 2023, around 8 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were en route to a disturbance report when they were advised that a CP Police officer had located and allegedly been assaulted by the suspect while arresting him.
Kamloops RCMP officers took over custody of the suspect and arrested him for assaulting a police officer, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson. The CP officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury.

The suspect was lodged in cells to sober up safely, then released with a court date and conditions. Charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the assessment and approval process.
