File # 2024-481

On May 26th, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Barriere RCMP received a call indicating that a number of gunshots had been heard in the area of Dunn Lake Road at Simpcw First Nation.

RCMP attended the Simpcw First Nation community of Chu Chua, and established a containment of the area while working alongside elected officials to direct community members to shelter in place.

Assistance was provided by neighbouring support sections, which included the Southeast District’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Police Dog Section (PDS).

Collaborative efforts led to the arrest of a 32-year-old female who allegedly was discharging a firearm carelessly in a residential area within Chu Chua, said Cpl. Kyle Camalush, Barriere Detachment Commander.

The investigation is ongoing.
