On May 23, 2025, at 8:18pm, The Fort St John RCMP received a report of a female stealing a bicycle in the area of 98th Street and 104th Avenue, Fort St John.

Frontline police officers attended and located the female, arresting her for theft of bicycle. Attending officers determined that the female had two unendorsed warrants for which she was arrested and held for court.

As part of the female’s possessions, a large garbage bag of new, unopened merchandise was located.  Frontline police attended a nearby store and determined the female had just stolen about 1200.00 worth of items including a large quantity of perfume. The recovered products were returned to the store.

The female was held on her warrants for court, remanded until May 26th where she was then released on her previous Release Order.

A file like this highlights what can happen when there is cooperation between the public and police, said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP. In this case a report from a concerned citizen resulted in the recovery of merchandise that had not even yet been reported as stolen and was able to be returned to the business.

The Fort St John RCMP are continuing the investigation into the stolen bike and merchandise. Additional charges are likely to be forwarded to the BC Crown Prosecution Service.
