The Keep in Touch (KIT) Program is run through the West Shore RCMP Community Policing Unit. Its purpose is to check on elderly citizens residing in the West Shore area who live on their own and do not have family or close friends to check on them regularly.
West Shore RCMP Community Policing volunteers phone elderly citizen’s who have signed up for this program daily Monday through Friday to see how they are doing. The program’s goal is to allow people to continue living independently in their own homes.
Every Spring, West Shore RCMP Community Policing Unit hosts a special KIT Spring Tea event bringing together elderly citizens and the volunteers that call them daily. The Community Policing Unit Officers and Civilian staff host the event and serve up some delicious treats and live music.
