Cause a disturbance

The Kitimat RCMP received a report of a disturbance being caused on the 400 block of City Center at approximately 11:25 pm on January 3rd. The responding officer located an intoxicated male refusing to leave a business in the area. The male was arrested for causing a disturbance by being intoxicated in public and transported to the Kitimat RCMP detachment cells. The male was released the following morning without charge. (2025-26)

2 vehicle collision

A two-vehicle collision that occurred on the Kitamaat Village Road was reported to the Kitimat RCMP at approximately 2:30 pm on January 4th. One vehicle and driver had left the scene of the collision, but not until after exchanging the appropriate information with the other driver. The other driver could not leave the scene as their vehicle had damages making it unsafe to operate. The investigating officer was able to confirm that there were no injuries to anyone involved. Single vehicle collision

On January 5th, at 12:36 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a call from a driver who had been involved in a single vehicle collision along highway 37, while driving south bound. The driver had been picked up by a passing motorist and taken to a local hospital for some minor injuries received during the collision. The injuries were consistent with airbag deployment as the vehicle had gone off the road with enough force to cause extensive damages. (2025-36)

Assault / fail to comply arrest

A report of a disturbance at a business near the 400 block of City Centre was called into the Kitimat RCMP at 7:30 am on January 6th. The investigating officers attended and the persons responsible for the disturbance had left the area. The investigation continued throughout the day and CCTV footage was provided which had evidence to identify the persons involved. It was also found that one of the persons was failing to comply with a probation order and an assault had also occurred. This resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old Kitimat man, who has been held in custody for a future court date to answer to the charges. (2025-42)

Single vehicle collision

On January 7th, at 1:15 pm, Kitimat RCMP received a call of a single vehicle collision on Hwy 37, south of the Kitimat River Bridge. It was reported a grey pick up truck slid into the ditch. A Kitimat RCMP officer responded and located the vehicle finding it fully in the ditch. The driver stated they were driving, hit an ice patch and slid. There were no injuries reported to the two persons in the vehicle. (2025-66)

90-day IRP

While a driver was driving along Highway 37, heading towards Kitimat, the manner in which a vehicle was being driven in became concerning at 3:53 pm on January 8th. A call to the Kitimat RCMP was placed with a description of the vehicle and the driving behavior being provided to the investigating Kitimat RCMP officer. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was initiated resulting in the investigation into impaired driving. Two samples of breath were provided into roadside approved screening devices. Both samples resulted in a fail reading. The driver was issued an immediate 90-day roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
