Threats to court house staff leave one man arrested

Creston

2025-03-05 11:42 PST

File # 2025-255

On March 3, 2025, the Creston RCMP was made aware of a threat to the Creston Court House and Staff. A 57-year-old man from Creston, BC was trying to get a change in conditions he is currently bound by. When explained that there was a process for this to happen, the man threatened to attend the court with his firearm and deal with it himself.

The Creston RCMP take threats to community safety with the highest regard, and in doing so responded immediately. Police confirmed that staff and the public were safe at the Court House located on the 200 block of 10 Ave N, Creston, BC. Through the investigation, police were able to determine where the suspect was located and arrest him without incident. The suspect is being held in custody on an unrelated matter, as Creston RCMP work with BC Prosecution Services on appropriate charges.

Our officers’ response to this was extremely effective and efficient, restricting this individual’s access from places he could potentially conduct himself in a way dangerous to the public’s safety. Officers utilized investigative procedures that gave them the upper hand and the ability to create a situation that forced an arrest without incident. I am proud of the response by our personnel and their continued commitment to public safety in the Creston Valley, stated S/Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk, Creston RCMP Detachment Commander.

Creston RCMP would like to thank the community and our partners; BC Sheriff Service, BC Prosecution Service, and Court Services Staff for their assistance in this matter.
