Richmond RCMP is excited to announce the launch of its 10th Annual Toy Drive in support of the Richmond Christmas Fund, another program of Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives, which helps make the holiday season brighter for local families in need. This year’s Toy Drive is set to take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Lansdowne Centre by the Canada Line station.
Last year, the 2023 Toy Drive broke records, raising $29,347 and collecting 2.3 tonnes of toys. Richmond RCMP is aiming to surpass these totals this year with even more community involvement.
Community members are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or make a suggested minimum $10 donation, and in return, they’ll receive a bag of warm mini donuts, courtesy of FortisBC, along with a ticket to a Richmond Sockeyes game.
This festive event will feature a range of family-friendly activities, including photos with Santa and a fun-filled ball hockey game where members of the Richmond Sockeyes and Richmond RCMP will faceoff with local VIPs. Community booths will also be present to share information and engage with attendees.
On October 26, 2024, Richmond RCMP held a special kickoff event at Lansdowne Centre, featuring members of the public having the opportunity to take photos with officers in Red Serge alongside luxury supercars. All proceeds from the kickoff went directly to support the Toy Drive.
Year after year, our Toy Drive has brought the community together for a common goal – to ensure that every child in Richmond has a reason to smile during the holidays, said Corporal Adriana O’Malley, Media Relations Officer for Richmond RCMP. With this being our 10th year, we’re hoping to make it our most successful Toy Drive yet.
