Port Alberni RCMP is investigating after one man was shot in what is believed to be a targeted shooting.
On September 1, 2023, around 5:30 a.m., Port Alberni RCMP responded to a report of a man who was shot in a back alley in the 3000 block of 4th avenue in Port Alberni. Frontline officers arrived and contained the area where witnesses have been identified and interviewed while the male victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is still within its early hours and investigators from the Port Alberni RCMP General Investigation Section, Police Service Dog and Forensic Identification Section are assisting frontline officers, says Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the BC RCMP. Initial information gathered is leading investigators to believe this was a targeted attack.

No arrests have been made at this time. Police are looking for an older model black Dodge pickup truck which was seen leaving the area at the time of the incident.
