Seven charges approved against 32-year-old man one year after fatal collision on Hastings Street in Burnaby

Seven charges have been approved against a 32-year-old man after a year long investigation into a fatal collision that occurred on Hastings Street near Willingdon Avenue in July 2023.

On September 10, 2024, seven charges were approved against 32-year-old Kolton Lockyer.

Lockyer now faces the following charges:

Count 7, Failure to stop at an accident, pertains to a hit and run collision that occurred in Vancouver prior to the fatal collision in Burnaby.

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team worked tirelessly to bring this investigation to this stage, said Inspector Peri Mainwaring, Burnaby RCMP’s Community Programs Officer. This is an extremely tragic event, but we hope this process can help bring some healing to the family and friends of the victim.

This file is now before the courts.
