Road safety reminder

There have been numerous motor vehicle collisions over the past several weeks in the Lillooet-Lytton regions. Drivers are reminded to drive with care and caution especially with rapidly changing winter conditions in the Lillooet-Lytton region.

Assault with weapon

2024-2652

On December 8, 2024 a caller in Lillooet reported a man had pepper sprayed another person inside their bedroom. There was an existing feud between the two. The suspect had left. Lillooet RCMP attended and obtained a statement from the victim and spoke with witnesses. The suspect was located and arrested for assault with a weapon and released with a court date and conditions not to contact the victim. The BC prosecution service has approved the recommended charge of assault with a weapon. The matter is currently in the court process.

Stolen vehicle recovered

2024-2657

On December 9, 2024 a report was received of an unoccupied vehicle (dark pick up truck) down an embankment off of Lillooet Pioneer Road 40. It was unknown how long it had been there for but the complainant wanted to let police know in case it was stolen. The vehicle was located several days later and confirmed to be stolen from months prior. It was unsuitable for forensic identification services given the time it was there and it's exposure to the elements. It was towed out and the owner was advised.

Motor vehicle collision

2024-2660

On December 9, 2024 a caller reported a two-vehicle collision on Hwy 12 near Alkali Road in Lytton. Lytton RCMP attended. There were no injuries. It was learned one vehicle did not have active insurance, the driver was issued a Violation Ticket for $598 for driving without insurance. A report to ICBC was completed and copies were given to the drivers as well.

Mischief

2024-2728

On December 18, 2024 an employee with the Lillooet shelter advised a woman was under the influence [alcohol/drug] causing a disturbance in the shelter. Lillooet RCMP members attended and learned that the woman had left on foot. Shortly after the woman was located standing on Main street impeding the flow of traffic. She was arrested for Mischief and for being intoxicated in public and transported to Lillooet cells. The woman was released from custody when sober without charge, assistance to get her to a detox center/treatment center was arranged and offered to her.

Mental Health Act

2024-2467

On December 23, 2024 a local restaurant employee reported a woman was in their washroom for the past two hours, not responding, with the door locked. Lillooet RCMP members attended with BC Ambulance Service and Lillooet Fire department. No response was received from attempts to speak with her. Lillooet Fire department was able to breach the locked door. The woman inside was familiar to police and in an apparent mental health episode. She was apprehended under the Mental Health Act by members and transported to a hospital for appropriate care.

Shots fired call

2024-2813

On December 31, 2024 a caller reported their neighbour had shot a firearm outside their residence. Lytton RCMP members responded and located the neighbour in the kitchen of his own residence with friends. There were fireworks in the kitchen with them in plain view. When the homeowner was asked about the loud noise they advised it was simply fireworks for New Years Eve. There were no further concerns, the caller was updated.

Impaired operation of motor vehicle

2025-10

On January 2, 2025 Lillooet RCMP received a report of a single vehicle roll over on Hwy 12 near Lillooet. Lillooet RCMP members attended. The single vehicle was rolled over, members observed an open beer can in the cup holder of the center console. The driver declined medical attention and was spoken too, he emitted an odour of alcohol, he was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance. The driver was given a breath demand to blow into an approved screening device. The driver subsequently produced two fail results on an approved screening device (ASD) for alcohol above the legal limit in his system. He was immediately prohibited from driving for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded. The matter was referred to ICBC.
