North Vancouver RCMP have arrested a man involved in an assault and attempted robbery of a person on a mobility scooter that occurred earlier this month.
On September 7, 2024, at approximately 2:50 p.m., police responded to reports of a robbery and assault taking place outside a pharmacy in the 1200-block of Marine Drive in North Vancouver.
It is alleged that an unidentified male attempted to steal items from a woman’s handbag that was hanging from her mobility scooter while she was stopped outside the pharmacy. An altercation ensued and the victim and a bystander that intervened were subsequently assaulted by the suspect.
CCTV images of the suspect were released to the public in an effort to identity the suspect and police have since received several tips as a result.
On September 16, 2024, North Vancouver RCMP arrested a man believed to be responsible for the assault and attempted robbery. He has since been released with a court appearance slated for January 15, 2025.
This was a terrifying incident for the victims in this case, said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. We are thankful to the public in helping us further this investigation to the point where an arrest has been made.
