North Vancouver RCMP is investigating an assault on a senior that took place at a North Vancouver park and is looking to identify a suspect captured on CCTV.
On July 27th, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. North Vancouver RCMP responded to a report of an assault at Dudley Place Playground located at 2645 Newmarket Drive in North Vancouver. It’s alleged that the victim entered the playground to dispose of his dog’s waste in a trash can. The presence of the dog in the playground upset the suspect, who then tackled the victim from behind and began to assault him. Nearby witnesses intervened to stop the assault from continuing further. Paramedics responded and transported the man to the hospital for his injuries.
The suspect fled prior to police arrival and was last scene travelling northbound on Thorncliffe Drive with a child on a bicycle.
Investigators are releasing CCTV of the suspect fleeing after the assault in hopes that someone will recognize the suspect and call the police, said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. We are hoping that the alleged suspect in this assault does the right thing and comes forward to the police and their version of the events.
