A proactive investigation led by frontline officers in Smithers has resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of multiple prohibited firearms, weapons, drugs and cash.
This work is part of our ongoing effort in 2025 to reduce the presence of illegal weapons and drugs in the community and enhance public safety said Corporal Jim Preston of the Smithers RCMP.

The investigation began with a proactive vehicle stop, where officers seized prohibited firearms and all occupants of the vehicle were arrested without incident.
As the investigation progressed, police obtained a search warrant for a residence in Smithers. This search led to the seizure of additional firearms, weapons, cash and a quantity of drugs.
This investigation reflects our focused efforts to disrupt criminal activity and get illegal guns and drugs off the street, added Cpl. Jim Preston.
