On Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 2:30 am, police observed a dodge pickup travelling on Highway 97. The vehicle matched the description of a stolen vehicle that police were aware of. Police attempted to stop the truck but it fled from police, turning onto Mason Road.

Dawson Creek RCMP contacted Fort St John RCMP who assisted in the search for the vehicle. The vehicle was located on Mason Road where it stopped then accelerated backwards at a rapid speed crashing into the front end of a police vehicle. The impact rendered the police vehicle inoperable. The suspect vehicle again fled from police.

The vehicle was later located in a patch of trees off Mason Road where it appears attempts were made to conceal the vehicle by using vegetation around the area.

Two people were located with the vehicle and were arrested without further incident. Both suspects, and adult man and woman are from the North West Territories and are in police custody.

Police can confirm that while there were gunshots, there are no reported injuries. Police have confirmed that the vehicle involved was reported stolen. This investigation is ongoing and there are no further details at this time. More information may be released as it becomes available.
