Head-on collision prompts highway closure

Police are investigating a head-on collision that occurred at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Hwy and Highway 18, in Duncan.

On May 28, 2025 just after 9 p.m., North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP responded to a report of a motor vehicle incident involving a blue Dodge motorhome and a blue Jeep Wrangler at the intersection of The Trans-Canada Hwy and the Cowichan Valley Highway (Hwy 18).

Early witness reports indicated that the Jeep was travelling southbound on the Trans-Canada Hwy when it collided with the motorhome that was travelling northbound on the Trans-Canada Hwy and performing a left-hand turn onto Hwy 18. The driver of the Jeep was transported to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the motorhome were also transported to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

An RCMP traffic analyst attended the scene while the highway was closed for some time to allow for evidence to be collected. Criminality is not suspected.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522.
