BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit investigating suspicious death

On March 3, 2025, Emergency services in Merritt, BC, were called to the residence of a male, identified as John Beauchemin, in medical distress.

Upon arrival, Emergency services rendered life saving measures; however, Beauchemin succumbed to injuries that were deemed suspicious in nature.

The BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit (MCU) has assumed conduct of the investigation. Investigators are diligently tracing Beauchemin’s final movements, and interactions, leading up to the time of his death. At this time, there is believed to be no cause for public concern as investigators continue to gather and assess the facts surrounding Beauchemin’s death, said Staff Sergeant Jason Smart, NCO i/c of the BC RCMP Southeast District MCU.
