On Sunday, June 15, 2025 at 3;23 pm, Vanderhoof RCMP received a report of a pedestrian involved collision on Highway 16 at Pine Street.
RCMP received a 911 call of a crash where two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle travelling on the highway. The vehicle traveled a short distance after the collision and struck a light standard.
One person was deceased at the scene and the other pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries that have been described as severe.
Highway 16 was shut down for a period of time to allow police to conduct an on scene forensic examination. It was later reopened to all traffic.
The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators and BCHP has assumed conduct of the investigation.
