RCMP in Port Hardy are investigating a single fatal vehicle collision on Holberg Rd, south of Port Hardy.
On August 11, 2023, just after 4:30 a.m., police were notified of a serious collision on Holberg Rd, a few kilometers off highway 19, just south of Port Hardy. Evidence gathered at the scene indicated that the driver, a 21-year-old man was trapped inside a black Mitsubishi Outlander and had to be extracted and transported to hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The passenger, a 24-year-old man unfortunately died at the scene.
Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash, says Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the RCMP in British Columbia.
