In honour of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Coquitlam RCMP is hosting Seniors Safe-Tea Talk at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre on Monday, June 17, 2024.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is on June 15, 2024. It aims to acknowledge the significance of elder abuse as a public health and human rights issue. With Canada’s ageing population, it is more important than ever for seniors and their care givers to be aware of how seniors can keep themselves safe.
This event will cover a variety of topics including; fraud, scams and elder abuse. The material is directed towards seniors and their care givers.
Coquitlam RCMP Community Policing and the City of Port Coquitlam are hosting Seniors Safe Tea, said Coquitlam RCMP Media Relations Officer, Corporal Alexa Hodgins. Attendees will learn how to avoid fraud, recognize scams, and protect yourself from elder abuse. You will also learn what to do if you are a victim of fraud or abuse.
