West Shore man sentenced to 6-months jail and 9-month probation for damaging Langford Library

On October 28, 2024, West Shore RCMP responded to a report of an alarm at Langford Heritage Library located at 102-1314 Lake Point Way in Langford. A suspect was reported to have ripped wires and kicked a hole in the wall inside the library before leaving the premises.

Frontline officers attended and identified the suspect via CCTV as being 43-year old James Cochrane who was arrested for Mischief shortly after. On January 28, 2025, James Cochrane entered a guilty plea to mischief, along with guilty pleas on other unrelated court files and was sentenced to 6 months of jail and 9 months of probation.

James Cochrane remains in custody and is serving his prison sentence.
