Richmond RCMP warning the public following arrest of suspect involved in alleged police impersonation.

On May 18, 2025 shortly after 1:00 p.m. Richmond RCMP received a report of a suspicious circumstance where a man reported being pulled over by a Ford Mustang equipped with red and blue police lights. The complainant advised the driver of the Mustang exited his vehicle wearing a police badge lanyard and asked to see the complainant’s driver’s licence. The complainant said he suspected that the man was not a police officer so drove away and reported the incident to police from a safe location.

The suspect later called 9-1-1 and alleged he had been following a possible impaired driver. Richmond RCMP frontline officers located and arrested the suspect for impersonating a police officer.

The suspect is described as:

The suspect was wearing dark grey clothing with a dark colour satchel bag and police badge lanyard.
The suspect vehicle is described as a grey Ford Mustang. The complainant was driving a beige Dodge Grand Caravan with Ontario licence plates.

To date we have not received any similar reports involving this vehicle or suspect but are issuing this public warning to identify other potential victims and to prevent any further victimization, says Inspector Mike Roberts, Officer-in-Charge of Frontline Operations.
