Powell River RCMP execute search warrant on Burnaby Street

On May 23, 2025, Powell River RCMP general investigation section executed a search warrant on a local residence as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

One person was arrested and the search resulted in the seizure of large amounts of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, crack cocaine and Canadian currency.

The community of Powell River is tired of unlawful activities that are occurring in plain sight. Detachment commander Staff Sergeant Lee Dyson commented, The execution of this search warrant sends a clear message that drug trafficking activity in this community will not be tolerated and will be stopped.

The investigation in ongoing.

Two vehicles stolen on Savary Island

On May 19, 2025, at approximately 8:00am, Powell River RCMP received a report that a Savary Island resident had located his vehicle that had been stolen from his residence some time overnight. The resident woke up and after noticing that his truck was missing, drove around to look for it. The resident located the truck with two youth inside. The vehicle had sustained damage. A short time later, Powell River RCMP received a report that a second vehicle had been stolen.

Both vehicles have been recovered and several youth that were involved have been identified.

The investigation is ongoing.
