Vehicle strikes building 

On Feb 12, 2025 at 3:00 pm RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle striking a parked car and then the brick exterior of the Red Apple store, at 876 Gibsons Way in Gibsons.  The driver reported that she had possibly confused the gas and the brake which caused the collision.  

Scam

A Halfmoon bay resident was defrauded after receiving a call from a male stating he worked for Telus and could offer a free phone and a discounted phone plan.  The local resident lost over $700 before realizing that this was a scam and the male did not work for Telus.

On February 8th a Gibsons resident called police to report over $13,000 had been fraudulently taken from her bank line of credit after receiving a call from someone purporting to be with the bank debt collection service.  The victim became suspicious after providing some answers to verification questions and immediately contacted her bank.

Car fire

On February 18th at 11:30 pm, a Sunshine Coast RCMP member came upon a pick up truck parked in the 5600 block of Wharf Avenue fully engulfed in flames.  Sechelt Fire Department attended and doused the fire. No one was injured and police are trying to contact the registered owner.  Police are continuing to investigate, if anyone has any information about the fire or cctv in the area, please call Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266.

Found property

On February 12, 2025 at 6:45 pm the RCMP were notified that two persons were seen trying door handles of vehicles in the 700 block Park Road in Gibsons.  Police attended and did not locate anyone matching the description but did locate a cache of property that may have been stolen.  A reciprocating saw, snow shoes, mens razor and a socket set was seized by police.
