On Friday, June 13, 2025, at 6:12 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report from a 74-year-old Genelle woman who avoided being a fraud victim by conducting her own due diligence, in Genelle, BC.
The woman was contacted by an man with a heavy accent on her phone. The man claimed to represent a business and offered a special promotional package to the woman. The woman grew suspicious after the man asked for her social insurance number and credit card number in order to receive the deal. The woman did not provide the information to the man and hung up the phone. The woman then called the actual business directly and verified that the promotional package offered did not exist.
Trail RCMP applauds the woman for listening to her inner voice, hanging up the phone, and taking an extra step to confirm that this was an attempted fraud, says Sgt. Wicentowich We hope this example helps more people avoid this kind of scam.

The officer arrested the man for trafficking in a controlled substance contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

The matter remains under investigation.
Trail RCMP will forwarded a report to Crown Counsel for a charge assessment.
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 9:39 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to an incident between neighbours in the 600 block of Hendry Street, in Trail, BC.
A 32-year-old Trail man and a 37-year-old Trail exchanged words with each other from their respective backyards which began with a hand gesture by one of the men. The men were believed be involved in an ongoing neighbour dispute and hostility. The matter continued to escalate until each man threatened to fight the other and one of the men spraying the other with a hose. The matter deescalated itself without violence after both men learnt that the police were contacted.
The attending officer advised both sides to ignore each other in the future to help avoid unnecessary conflict.
Let hope in the future that the water is under the bridge rather than over the fence, says Sgt. Wicentowich.
