North Vancouver RCMP continue to investigate a fatal boat collision and are calling on witnesses to come forward.

On June 7, 2025, North Vancouver RCMP responded to reports of a serious collision involving a speedboat and an inflatable tube with two children on it. Sadly, one child died as a result, and a second child was airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The second child remains in hospital. Police are unable to provide further details on the condition of the second child.

The boat operator was arrested on scene and has since been released on an Undertaking to Appear (UTA), with a court date of August 27 as police continue their investigation.

Since our initial plea for witnesses to come forward, we have had dozens of people provide statements, said Corporal Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. We would like to thank those individuals for doing the right thing to help us further our investigation. We have since learned through investigation that there may still be individuals with intimate knowledge of the collision and events prior, who have yet to come forward.

Police are appealing to those individuals to do the moral thing and speak to investigators.

Anyone who has not yet spoken to police is asked to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file number 2025-11599.
