Terrace

E-bikes and E-dirt bikes are becoming more prevalent around Terrace and the RCMP have seen an increase in complaints surrounding the use of these bikes.
Both E-bikes and E-dirt bikes have been reported speeding along residential streets, flying down municipal trails, and stunting on city sidewalks. This has drawn attention to the fast-growing phenomenon of e-bikes and what the laws are surrounding their use.
In many cases, there is little information that has been provided to E-bike riders and most are unaware of the regulations that apply to their use.
The rules for E-dirt bikes remain the same as traditional gas-powered dirt bikes. They are for off road use only and not to be operated on roads, sidewalks, bike lanes or any place the public may be.
E-dirt bikes are subject to the Motor Vehicle Act offences and fines:
Subject to 7-day vehicle impoundment
Subject to Criminal Code offences
Subject to Civil Forfeiture
