Bullet strikes residence: police investigating

Kamloops City

2024-01-31 13:52 PST

File # 2024-2974

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is looking for witnesses, video, and information related to a report of shots fired received early Monday morning.

On Jan. 30, 2024, around 8:15 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 5700-block of Todd Hill Crescent, where damage consistent with a gunshot, and a bullet were located. Based on the investigation so far, it is believed that the gunfire occurred earlier in the morning around 3:50 a.m., when two loud bangs were heard.

Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident, but the potential risk presented to those inside the residence and in the area was extremely high and is being taken very seriously, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.

A police presence was visible in Dallas yesterday morning, as frontline officers conducted an evidence search with the assistance of the Police Dog Services Unit, Forensic Identification Services Unit, and the General Investigation Support Team.

As the investigation continues, we are asking the public to please check their video security or dash camera systems to see if they captured any vehicle or presence that could be related to this incident, said Cpl. Evelyn. If anyone witnessed or heard anything around the time the loud bangs were heard and has not yet contacted police, please reach out as soon as possible.

Those with information are asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-2974.
