On June 24, 2025, Fort St John RCMP began a homicide investigation after receiving a report of an assault where the victim was located unresponsive and pronounced deceased on scene. See initial media release.
After an intense investigation involving the Fort St John RCMP Frontline police officers, Fort St John Serious Crimes Unit, Fort St John RCMP Street Enforcement Team, BC RCMP North District General Investigations Section and the BC RCMP North District Major Crimes Unit, 3 suspects have been arrested and each is facing the charge of manslaughter which has been approved by BC Crown Prosecution Service.
Our investigators worked tirelessly over the past few days to conduct a thorough investigation and arresting these three individuals, said Corporal Paul Waterman, Fort St John RCMP Serious Crimes Unit. We believe this to be an isolated incident with no additional threat to the public.

Two suspects have been remanded into police custody with their next court appearance on June 30, 2025. The third suspect is in police custody being held to be brought before a judge for a bail hearing.
