Kamloops RCMP officers are inviting the public to change up their coffee routine next week and meet some local cops for a cup of Joe.
On Thursday Feb. 15, 2024, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment is participating in two Coffee with a Cop events hosted by the North Shore and Aberdeen McDonald’s locations. Residents are invited to join local police officers for a free hot beverage and casual conversation, in a comfortable and relaxed setting.
Events like these are meant to help residents feel more comfortable and at ease talking to and getting to know the police officers in their community, said Constable Jonathon Williams, the Kamloops RCMP frontline officer spearheading the upcoming event. Lots of people might have questions for police, but are too nervous to approach them on the street, or worried they’re too busy to talk. Coffee with a Cop provides that opportunity in an inviting and welcoming environment.

The morning event will run from 8:30-10:30 a.m., at the North Shore McDonald’s, 661 Fortune Dr., followed by an after-lunch session from 1:30-3:30 p.m., at the Aberdeen McDonald’s, 1465 Trans Canada Hwy W. Residents are encouraged to stop by and chat about any of the police-related topics they’ve been thinking about, such as crime prevention, the recruiting process, or even just to say hello.
