Quesnel RCMP investigate contraband cigarettes

The Quesnel RCMP conducted a search warrant for contraband cigarettes.

On March 28, 2025, the Quesnel RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with the assistance of the North District Emergency Response Team and other members of the Quesnel RCMP, executed a search warrant to a residence in the 2000 block of Red Bluff Road in Quesnel.

The investigation is ongoing. Once completed the results of the investigation will be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for assessment of appropriate charges.

The possession and sale of contraband tobacco products is becoming more common, said Sgt. Clay Kronebusch. The street value of the seized cigarettes is estimated to be around $220,000.
