Assault
On September 25, 2024, police responded to a report of an assault at a business in the 4600 block of Joyce Avenue. An employee at the business reported that a male had come in to the store and slapped him. The male then tried to slap the employee again, but the employee was able to grab his hand and told him he was calling police. The suspect, a 31-year-old male from Powell River, was arrested for assault a short time later by police. A bail hearing was conducted and the male was released from custody with conditions the following day.
Vehicle Theft
On September 27, 2024, police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from the parking lot at the Beach Gardens Marina. The vehicle, a white single cab 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with black trim, had been parked at that location the previous night at around 8:00 p.m. The following day, the truck was located by police in the parking lot of the Community Resource Centre. The truck was found running, but not occupied. The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking any potential witnesses to contact the Powell River RCMP at 604-485-6255.
