Police investigating Juniper Ridge threat

A concerning incident reported near Capilano Drive has police turning to the public for video and information.

On Saturday Dec. 28, 2024, around 7 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a call for service in which a youth had allegedly been threatened with a firearm while on a trail earlier that day, around 4 p.m.

Upon receiving the report, officers attended and surveyed the area, obtained statements, and canvassed for video, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson. We are turning to the public in an attempt to obtain more security or dash camera footage, witnesses, and information that could help further the investigation.

According to the report, the youth was walking on a trail near Capilano Drive when they encountered a man sitting on a log, who produced a firearm and threatened the youth with it, then chased the youth onto the roadway.
