Burnaby RCMP investigating shooting that has injured one person

Burnaby RCMP is investigating a shooting which occurred in a wooded area near Highway 1 and Willingdon Avenue on Saturday, March 15, 20225, injuring a 71-year-old man.

Burnaby RCMP frontline officers were called to the area at approximately 10:15 pm. The injured victim, who appears to have been living in the wooded area, was located and taken to the hospital where he is continuing to undergo treatment.

While the victim’s injuries appear serious, he is in stable condition.

The motive is still under investigation but at this time it is believed to be an isolated incident.

Burnaby RCMP’s Investigative Support Team (IST) is leading the investigation.
