On August 3rd, 2023, Vernon Crown Counsel approved 6 charges against Vernon resident 36-year-old Michael Rodine as a result of a head-on collision which occurred during the early morning hours of August 5th, 2022, on Highway 97 near the Vernon Military Camp in Vernon, BC.
The collision resulted in the death of 2 grandparents on vacation in the Okanagan from Vancouver. The charges include 2 counts of Criminal Negligence Causing Death, 2 counts of Impaired Driving Causing Death and 2 counts of Impaired Driving over .08 Causing Death.
Rodine's first court appearance is scheduled for September 7th, 2023.
