Files of note

Impaired Driving

On July 6, at approximately 11:30 p.m. police located a moving truck that was parked in a parking lot in the 4700 block of Joyce Avenue. A records check was completed on the vehicle which showed the owner did not have a valid drivers license. Police spoke to the driver who showed signs of drug impairment. A field sobriety test was performed with the driver, and the driver performed poorly. The driver was then taken back to the Powell River RCMP detachment where a drug recognition exam was completed. Based on the results of the exam, the driver may face impaired driving charges in the future.

Break and Enter

On July 9, at approximately 12:36 p.m. police responded to a break and enter in the 4800 block of Manson Avenue that had taken place sometime in the previous 2 days. A kayak, dirt bike and a number of other items were stolen from a backyard shed. The dirt bike was recovered a short distance away, but the kayak is still missing.
