On February 4, 2024 Powell River RCMP responded to a report that a man had entered the Powell River airport lounge and pushed past employees, through the tarmac doors and onto the airport runway.
Powell River Airport staff swiftly locked the building to ensure passenger safety.
Police arrived and the man was arrested for Mischief and held in custody to appear in front of a Judge.
The flight leaving Vancouver was held at the South Terminal for twenty minutes until it was determined safe to depart.
On February 1, 2024, Powell River RCMP received a report that a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with BC licence plate MG 4048, had been stolen from the parking lot of an apartment building on Kiwanis Avenue.
The theft occurred some time between 9:00pm the previous night and 9:00am on the morning of February 1st.
Powell River RCMP is asking the public to be on the look out for the vehicle and to contact police if it is located.

On February 6, 2024, Powell River RCMP received a report that a local resident had lost over $2000 in a Bitcoin fraud.
The resident made an investment with a company advertising on Facebook to invest in Bitcoin. The company was not legitimate.
Powell River RCMP would like to remind everyone; to always research any company before investing money, and not to provide remote access to any electronic device including computers, and cellphones.
