On January 9, 2025 West Shore RCMP published a media release regarding a theft of excavator and flatbed trailer from a work yard located at 792 Industrial Way in Langford. The incident took place on December 27, 2024 at approximately 2:40 a.m., and Police requested the help of the public in locating the suspect vehicle.
Police learned that what appeared to be a Ford F350 Super Duty truck entered the yard, hooked up to the flatbed trailer with loaded excavator, and drove away. Police conducted patrols, located and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle which fled from police, and was last seen driving on Finlayson Arm Rd in the Highlands. The flat deck trailer and excavator were both recovered by police on December 27 but the suspect vehicle was not located.
On January 17 the suspect F350 vehicle was recovered by police and determined it was also stolen. This investigation remains ongoing.
