Powell River RCMP partner with ICBC to address impaired driving during the holidays
The Holiday Counter Attack campaign targeting impaired driving will begin this weekend. Powell River RCMP and ICBC are working together to urge drivers to be responsible during the holiday season and plan for a safe ride home.
The campaign will kick off on December 2, 2023 which is National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day. Powell River RCMP will be out in full force looking for impaired drivers and removing them from our roadways.
If you drink, don’t drive and plan ahead to get home safely by assigning a designated driver or arranging for a safe ride if your holiday festivities include alcohol or drugs.
Starting in December, Powell River Taxi will operate until 1:00 am on the weekends and until midnight on weekdays.
Dry grad is also offering a safe ride home for holiday events. The service must be set up in advance and dry grad drivers will drive all party-goers home in your own vehicles. There is a $100 commitment for each event and additional donations are also accepted. Please email dryprompowellriver@gmail.com to set up your event or for more information.
