On Friday, September 20, 2024, at 8:21 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a report of a 19-year-old woman who went missing from the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, in Trail, BC.
Officers conducted patrols in an attempt to locate the woman but were unsuccessful. The woman was seen later that morning in Rivervale by residents after she had allegedly swan across the Columbia River. The residents gave her dry clothes and contacted the police just before she disappeared again into the forested area located north of Rivervale.
Trail RCMP, RCMP Air Services, Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, South Columbia Search and Rescue conducted a coordinated and extensive search of the area but could not locate the woman. The woman’s family was notified about the incident.
The officers were contacted in the evening by the woman’s family. The woman had returned home and was safe in their care. The woman would attend the hospital in the care of her family at a later time.

On Friday, September 20, 2024, at 9:45 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was patrolling in a marked police vehicle when he observed a vehicle fail to stop at the red light at the intersection of Farwell Street and Cedar Avenue, in Trail, BC. The officer detained a 47-year-old Trail woman and her vehicle roadside.
The officer made observations that lead him to believe the woman’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was allegedly impaired by alcohol. A demand was read to the woman who provided a sample of breath roadside that resulted in a fail.
The 47-year-old Trail woman was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act. Her vehicle was impounded for up to 30 days.Trail man detained for impaired driving, licence suspended, vehicle impounded
On Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:30 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was patrolling in a marked police vehicle when he observed a vehicle travelling toward him that was partially in his lane while on Rossland Avenue, in Trail, BC. The officer pulled over to the side of the road to avoid a collision, then turned his police vehicle around and detained a 40-year-old Kelowna man and his vehicle roadside.
The officer made observations that lead him to believe the man’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was allegedly impaired by marihuana. A demand was read to the man who allegedly failed a Standard Field Sobriety Test delivered by the officer while roadside.
The 40-year-old Kelowna man was issued a 24-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act. His vehicle was impounded.
On Saturday, September 21, at 2:59 p.m. a frontline Trail Greater District RCMP officer received a request via phone call for a night’s accommodation in jail from a 21-year-old Fort John man.
The man reported that he had been drinking, did not have a place to stay, and wanted to sleep inside a jail cell. The man’s request was denied.

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 8:50 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District officers responded to three reports of smashed windows, in Trail, BC.
A suspect smashed a vehicle window in the 1200 block of Hospital Bench Road, a vehicle window in the 1900 block of Seventh Avenue, and a window at a facility in the 1500 block of Columbia Avenue. All three incidents are believed to be perpetrated by the same individual.
The suspect is described as between 20 to 35-years-old, 5’7 to 5’8, with blond hair, and wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and black pants, and carrying a large stick The man may have had blood on his hands.

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 4:42 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was patrolling in a marked police vehicle when he observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 3B near McBride Street, in Trail, BC.
The officer active his police radar unit and confirmed that the vehicle was travelling 105 km/h in a 60 km/h posted speed zone. The officer detained the vehicle roadside.
The 19-year-old Alberta man driving the vehicle was issued a $368 fine for Excessive Speed contrary to Section 481(1) of the British Columbia Motor Vehicle Act and his vehicle impounded for up to 7 days.
