Sometime in the early morning hours of July 13, a custom off-road vehicle was stolen from a property on Shore Road in Hatzic. The white Polaris Razer was taken by thieves after they cut the lock on the shed that the vehicle was stored in. If you have seen this unique-looking vehicle around, please call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
Around 10 pm on July 16, police were called to a single-vehicle collision on the Horne Street on-ramp to the Mission Bridge. A blue Toyota Matrix had rolled onto its side, then the occupants reportedly flipped it back onto all four-wheels before realizing it was not driveable. They took off on foot across the Mission Bridge, but were eventually located by police and with the assistance of a police dog. The driver displayed signs of intoxicated and provided a breath sample that triggered a Warn reading on a roadside screening device, leading to a 3-day driving prohibition and a vehicle impound.

Police were called to a property on Dewdney Trunk Road on the evening of July 15, after receiving a report of a male with a gun. Multiple officers from Mission RCMP responded and located one firearm inside a vehicle, and one outside on the property, both of which were seized by police. One male was taken into custody. There is no indication that any shots were fired, and the matter is still under investigation.
Around noon on July 13, a building manager on 2nd Avenue asked two men outside to stop smoking and leave the property. 15 minutes later, the men had still not left, and the manager again told them to leave. One man responded by threatening to blow up the building, while the other threatened the manager with a knife. Police located the man with the knife a short distance away, and arrested him for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and breach of the conditions of a Release Order he was already on. No one was injured in the incident.
Tip of the Week: If you are a prohibited driver, you should not be driving. However, let’s say you are a prohibited driver and you choose to drive: If a motorcycle-officer with Mission RCMP is standing on the side of the road and sees you drive up, and knows you very well from prior interactions, and even calls you by your name, and you respond to your name and pull over as directed, and the officer walks up to your window and looks right at you, and you look right at him, the recommended next step is NOT to hit the gas and flee. The officer clearly knows you and has already seen you driving, meaning a charge of driving while prohibited is already a sure thing. Fleeing at that point will only result in additional charges. (PS – if you are the driver from July 11 that inspired this tip, please leave your schedule open for a court date coming soon!)
