Frauds and Scams in the Comox Valley

Comox Valley

2024-08-01 13:34 PDT

On July 15, 2024 someone identifying themselves as Amazon customer support called a victim who was directed to download and install an application which was used to purchase Crypto Currency.

Comox Valley RCMP would like to remind residents to be vigilant when receiving unsolicited phone calls and take a moment to confirm who is calling before providing any personal information. Additionally, residents should be very wary of installing any unknown applications on their computers since they could allow for unfettered access to their personal and financial information.

Similar frauds have been reported with individuals identifying themselves as representatives from various other legitimate companies.
