On December 1, at approximately 4:50 p.m., the West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion near the 3000 block of Glen Lake Rd in Langford.

Police were on scene within minutes of receiving the call and learned that a male suspect had pushed his way into the victim’s home after the front door had been opened to determine why the victim’s dogs were barking. After the victim’s dogs challenged the suspect, he allegedly brandished a black handgun before leaving the home and running toward Alouette Drive. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries from this incident.

Frontline officers contained the area and a Police Dog was deployed. The area was searched extensively however, police were unable to locate the suspect. Officers also canvassed the neighbourhood for witnesses and CCTV.

The suspect is described as:

Police are asking the residents living in the area to check their home surveillance cameras for the period between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on December 1 and if you believe you have captured the suspect on camera to report it to police. If you have information on this crime or think you know who the suspect may be, please call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264. Do not approach the suspect as he may be armed and is considered dangerous.

The victim and suspect are not known to each other. Police are continuing their investigation into this crime.
