West Shore
2023-10-26 10:16 PDT
This month, at the request of West Shore RCMP, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) Uniformed Gang Enforcement Team (UGET), worked in partnership with West Shore RCMP officers to target the drug trade on the West Shore.
Officers from West Shore RCMP’s, Drugs and Organized Crime, Crime Reduction, Bike Patrol and Uniformed Gang Enforcement units, along with CFSEU-BC’s UGET, were briefed on crime hot-spots and shared up-to-date intelligence provided by West Shore RCMP and CFSEU-BC’s Crime Analysts.
The officers conducted 19 separate investigations over a 3-day period related to drug trafficking that resulted in police seizing the following evidence:
Success is measured for the Uniform Gang Enforcement Team of CFSEU-BC not only by the enforcement results but by how well they can build partnerships to increase the overall effectiveness and capacity of gang and violence suppression in British Columbia, said Sgt Brenda Winpenny, Media Relations Officer CFSEU-BC. Working with law enforcement partners, and building upon local efforts is a primary goal for UGET and all of CFSEU-BC.

Further details on the drug trafficking investigations will not be released at this time as these investigations are before the courts. However, police can share that one of the investigations involved a traffic stop near the 800 block of Goldstream Ave in Langford where officers recognized the 33-year-old male passenger in the vehicle as being wanted for multiple unendorsed warrants stemming from a Vancouver Police Department investigation for Attempted Murder, Discharging a Firearm and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. Police searched the vehicle and located a hand gun (unloaded). The wanted man was held in custody.

We thank CFSEU-BC’s UGET for their enforcement efforts in the West Shore. CFSEU-BC’S UGET team of investigators worked very hard alongside our officers and together, we have made an impact on the local drug trade, said Inspector Stephen Rose, Officer in Charge of Operations at West Shore RCMP.
